If you can manage cables, index all the way. The Headset has a wider and taller field of view, the refresh rate on the screen is up to 144 frames per sec and the cosmos is 90. Blurrilly? Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. For me, I would be thoroughly satisfied if I can get my hands on the Index controllers sometime in the future to complete my setup (AMOLED screens + Wireless + Index controllers). On the back is a dial to adjust the tightness, and the front display portion is hinged so that you can flip it up to see the world around you without having to remove the entire headset. Fair enough. 2880 x 1600px vs 2160 x 1200px
Otherwise look at the RIFT S And loosing the sweet spot leads to more eye strain for me.
If you can afford the Index package, go that route. The Index and the VivePro have similar resolutions of 2880x1600, the Cosmos is slightly higher at 2880x1700.
Despite the Cosmos having a larger screen resolution over the Index, the Index image quality is much better.

The last few days I have been comparing the two HMDs in VR. Valve Index vs Vive Pro vs Vive Cosmos Elite?
Valve Index $ 889. The Vive Cosmos has better resolution, but the optics render the image so blurry! However with the Cosmos headphones I find it is harder to dial in the sweet spot, it's a very small spot. Ideally I’m looking for someone who has owned or tried both (unlikely I know) and can say like “nah stick with what you’ve got, not much difference” or “definitely send it back immediately!” What do you guys think?Edit: they both come with Half Life Alyx free by the way, but the Cosmos Elite comes with Vive Infinity for 6 months (or whatever it’s called; basically a video game version of Netflix) whereas the Index does not.In my mind, the biggest difference between the two are the quality of the controllers (Cosmos Elite ships with the original Vive wands, which are easily the worst VR controllers), and the quality of support. The controllers... well, expect the touchpads to stop registering clicks after a while. Which would you think is the best, and if you have the time to answer, why? Valve Index. I am also experiencing an issue where one of the side headphones keeps popping up on me, this could be a defect on the Cosmos though, not sure about that. You need to be a member in order to leave a commentHTC VIVE Cosmos vs Valve Index (HMD only comparison) There is not one reason to buy HTC over Valve IMO.So do you think I should send it back, or now I’ve bought it is it easier to just stick? 1.78x higher resolution?
Lens distance can be adjusted on the Index, not so much on the Cosmos. Design Display & Lenses Tracking Connectivity Features. But the fact that you can reuse your base stations is a bonus. The Cosmos does not give me this anxiety. All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries. Valve Index uses adjustable (and removable) speakers that hover over your ears.
Comparison winner. 98. points. 86 points. I like how secure the Index feels on my face. For most people, it's the best headset on the market. The Cosmos Elite as an extra 100 lines of vertical resolution and a narrower field of view so should have a better apparent pixel density (I haven't heard much about this making a difference so it must be marginal), it has wireless compatibility and a flip up welding mask design so you don't have to take the headset off to uncover your face. One could also argue, that Valve Index boasts better sound quality overall as well, but I think that is debatable. If good wireless PCVR is important to you there are only 2 good options; Vive Pro or Vive Elite. Personally I think the Vive Pro is the better headset. By using our Services or clicking I agree, you agree to our use of cookies. The base station light houses that come with the cosmos are the last gen models. Violent and jerky motions, like in boxing games, I have experienced the IPD adjustment slide on the Index, not so much on the Cosmos. What are the differences and pros and cons? The sound of the Index just feels more immersive and engaging. Maybe the above is due to the lens differences between the two VR headsets. If you upgrade to the Cosmos you will need to get the compatible wireless adapter which adds a lot to the cost. So I've done some research, but it's not as helpful because I'm also seeing some pretty mixed reviews and opinions from people who actually own them. The screen door effect is less noticeable in the Index I know the panels have some sort of coating in the Index. I'd wait a couple weeks and see if we get more info on the HP Reverb 2.Also, while it's a long shot maybe we'll get some more details on the headset Oculus has been working on that recently leaked. HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite vs Valve Index (2020): Comparing Premium VR Headsets. I would think the Index would be a better upgrade for you but not having a wirelss option may be a dealbreaker if that is important to you. The Index headset alone is 550€, and were the Vive Pro have the advantage of the OLED, the Cosmos Elite doesn’t have anything better.
For the most immersive virtual reality experiences, you’d want only the most high-performing full VR kits. Leaving the Cosmos standard? Personally I think the Vive Pro is the better headset. Hi! We pit the two against each other to help you decide which is best. WIth the Index design I don't have to do this and can wear the HMD a little looser on the head due to the fundamental design difference between how you wear the two HMDs. All rights reserved. I find in order for the Cosmos to sit firmly on my face I really have to dial in the halo strap, this can become uncomfortable and cause pressure spots on your head.
